Reminiscence of You

Ah, how such pain could be born from
A truly beautiful feeling
The taste is so bittersweet
As I keep these memories repeating
It's funny how you and I had met
I still have that conversation saved
You, just one of many, of a circle of friends
So close we were a family
I enjoyed my times spending with you
The times we talked; laughing, playing games
A little feeling was springing up in my heart
Like a small seed slowly growing
I pushed it aside, not wanting to be silly
He likes me? Nah, not someone like me!
Yet strangely, in my thoughts
Unlike anyone else
My mind would imagine
What it'd be like to be married
It was such a happy fantasy
That my mind created for no one else
Though your life would be short
I'd enjoy every moment before its gone
I remember our dear friend, the youngest member of our group
You know, she told me she was suspicious of you
Suspicious that you liked me, she could see all the hints
"Call it woman's intuition"
Yet I laughed and denied it to myself
Our friendship grew, much strogner than I'd expect
Out of everyone else, you were the one I always waited... come on chat, I'd say things like "entertain me!"
If I was up late, though it was day for you, you'd shout "GO TO BED!"
When I struggled in my studies, you threw all your luck at me
It really came in handy on acing that test
And it hurts to know that, when you told me you were going to die
That in my agony, these feelings I finally realized
You know, she was right, her "woman's intuition"
For on the day, a few hours before, you'd hand me your heart
Telling me how happy you were in this short year we'd all spent
In tears, I laughed "how can someone be that happy?"
And you told me "just know you made it possible"
Death took you away sooner than the doctors predicted
Yet even when given a month, you still went passed that expiration
In your last letter, how dare you make me laugh!
Even in my tears, you still managed to make me smile after death
And now here I am, two years later, recalling this love
Sometimes I still shed tears, though you told me to shed none
But for you, I will smile, even if I'm crying
Rest in peace, my love
Thank you for all those times you made me feel more than just happy

Hello, I've been writing poetry for over a year now. I'm just now starting to feel comfortable putting myself out there. If you're interested in a fresh new perspective from deeply sad and coldly cerebral poet with a big hidden heart please check my work out. It would mean a lot to me. :)

Hey all,

A friend and I are attempting to start up a new (free!) e-published magazine featuring all kinds of writing arts! We'll also be including a section for comics each month too! We are currently looking for submissions to be featured in the first issue, details can be found here:

If you would like a chance to be featured in the first issue, see the link and consider contributing (guidelines for doing so are included on the blog)!

I'm so sorry, I am new at this, I didn't mean to put my poem in the featured section. Is there a way to change it?
Island-Romance Featured By Owner Aug 3, 2015  Student Artist
your poem is fine in the feature section if you care to leave it.
